I will write more when I get more time, I am thinking to go through the apple software saying what I like and not, so perhaps this might resonate with you also.

But when you read the article, can you honestly see genius in anything they have done? When you read through it, you get a "yeah, and?" feeling. It's all so obvious. Another example I failed to mention, which I will update the article with now, is the Magsafe power connector, you realise that laptops have used the same power cable/charger arrangement that they have for like 10+ years now, even the first laptops have that connector!! Apple? Throw it all away and improve it with a design which is so simple and obvious, I can't break my power connector now, it's impossible, why? because someone thought longer than the end of their nose to realise that you said it here, the competition is stale. Also, the power cable? no huge heavy brick? Outstanding!

Glad to see you got my points Matt, come back soon, I think I'm going to start with iphoto.

A lot of good points here Chris, that highlight how the traditional laptop market has become stale, design-wise, and how Apple has reinvigorated it with simple, meaningful solutions. Your situation is similar to mine in that I too adopted Linux(Ubuntu) as an alternative to Windows but too much time was spent configuring things which leaves little time for productivity and hence the reason why I'm now resolved to save up for my first ever Mac. Cheers.
